Uganda's National Parks

In the late 1960s, Uganda was the most popular tourist destination on the African continent. Despite the resulting devastation to its flora and fauna, Uganda continues to hold a great fascination for travelers: Those interested in birds, for example, will find over 1,000 recorded species—the Queen Elizabeth National Park alone records 606 species within its territory. Of course, many visitors to Uganda want to see mountain gorillas, but the country's other natural beauties are no less rewarding: tropical rainforests with Africa's highest primate population, spectacular waterways, impressive savannahs and majestic, snow-capped mountains are all abundant.
